Step 1: After returning home, loosen the laces, and then remove the boots from your feet. Now, hold onto your boots and tap them against each other to remove any loose mud. Use a stiff brush to brush down the sides of the boots.

Step 2 – Get a damp cloth and soak it in warm water. Now, squeeze the cloth and then rub your boots with it to remove the mud from the shoes. Some mud may have gotten into the small grooves. You can remove it with a toothbrush.

Step 3: Get an old newspaper page and crumple it up. Now, put it inside your boots before long-term storage. This will help your boot stay in the same shape. Aside from this, the newspaper also helps your boots dry quickly as the paper will soak up the water. Store your boots in a safe, dry place so they don’t take long to dry completely.

Step 4 – Once your boots are dry, you can use Vaseline or Vaseline to grease the cleats. Another benefit of Vaseline is that it will prevent your studs from rusting and increase the life of your shoes.

Step 5 – To maintain the color of your football boots, you should get in the habit of polishing them periodically. After 24 hours, you can apply natural leather oil to your boots to prevent water damage to the leather.

Some pros and cons

Some people kick their boots in the heel. While this is tempting, you should never do this as it can cause serious damage.

Never use a wire brush on your boots as it is too strong. Instead, you should use a brush made from a soft, natural material.

To clean the studs, do not use a cleaning agent that contains harsh chemicals. It is best to use warm water and a clean garment.

It is also not recommended to place the studs near the radiator for faster drying. Doing so will stiffen your studs making them weaker.

Using excessive gelatin on the bolts is also not a good idea as it can loosen them or reduce friction.

After each use, you must wash the cleats. This is a good habit. Also, don’t throw away your old toothbrushes. Instead, keep them somewhere in your house and then use them to clean your football boots.

So if you have a pair of soccer cleats, you should use these tips to maintain them. Keep in mind that replacing your shoes is not a piece of cake. You have to spend a good amount of money on each replacement. Therefore, take care of your shoes so that they last longer. I hope that helps
