The HTC Sensation will be joined by a new premium model in the form of the HTC One X

The last quarter of 2011 saw the launch of the excellent HTC Sensation XL. This powerful device was the first model released by HTC to incorporate Beats Audio technology to enhance music playback on the phone. This model has been sitting proudly at the top of the HTC range for almost six months, but now it looks like it will be joined by a new model in the form of the new HTC One X.

One area that attracts many consumers to the HTC Sensation XL is the excellent screen quality it offers. The model uses an S-LCD screen that measures 4.7 inches, which makes the device perfect for playing movies and playing games. In terms of resolution, the phone can display a 480 x 800 image, which is equivalent to a pixel density of 199 pixels per inch. The new HTC One X uses the same screen size but with improved quality. Thanks to the addition of Super IPS LCD technology, the model can offer a superior resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, which means that the device can display a super pixel density of 312PPI. The screen of this new model is made of Corning Gorilla Glass, which makes the screen very resistant to damage. The One X offers very similar measurements to the Sensation XL, which is what we’d expect from two devices offering the same screen size. HTC has managed to make this new phone weigh considerably less at just 130 grams compared to 162.5 grams for the XL device.

One area where the new models offer a big improvement over the HTC Sensation XL is in the processing department. The One X is HTC’s first smartphone to feature a quad-core processor. This chip will help the device deliver fast operating speeds along with effortless multitasking facilities. A large 1 GB RAM is also present in this model to ensure that the phone is well prepared for any software improvements that may be developed in the future. In terms of multimedia performance, Beats Audio technology is used once again to help the phone deliver unparalleled audio from the built-in speakers or from the excellent supplied headphones. An 8 million pixel still camera captures great photos and the unit can also record HD video footage at 1080P resolution.

The HTC Sensation XL will remain one of the leading devices in HTC’s range, although it seems likely that the new One X will take over from its position at the head of the family. This excellent new model has great specs, but consumers are likely to benefit from a price drop on the Sensation XL thanks to the introduction of this new phone.
