Mini Laptops 101 – Compare Mini Laptops vs. Standard Laptops
What are mini laptops? These mighty little wonders are actually smaller cousins to the standard laptop. If you think you’ve never seen one, remember the times you walked past a computer store and marveled at how cute that laptop is.
Mini laptops are fast becoming a global sensation because as well as being light, they are also light on the pocket. But how do they compare to standard laptops?
Over the years, the development of a stripped-down, stripped-down laptop has evolved, and just like standard laptops, most mini laptops now come with an operating system (Windows or Linux), software basic, substantial memory, entertainment options and Internet connectivity. Still, minis are different from standard laptops based on these features:
Price
Mini laptops are in the $100 to $500 range, making them very affordable for just about anyone. Standard laptops cost $800-$1500 and up.
Weight
They only weigh about two pounds, while standard laptops typically weigh more than six pounds.
screen
Mini laptops have screens that are eight to ten inches wide, while standard laptops have a 15 to 17-inch screen.
The good thing about netbooks is that they have considerable memory, from 512 to 2 GB, with storage space ranging from 16 GB to 160 GB. If your files exceed the storage capacity, you can easily expand them with flash drives and memory cards.
With these smaller laptops, you can easily create MS Office documents, read email, watch movies, listen to music, take photos and chat with your friends, and surf the Internet, among other things.
Probably the only downside to these little laptops is that they have smaller keyboards than standard laptops. Some computer users may find it uncomfortable to type on smaller keys for an extended period of time.
Whether or not mini laptops will be the standard laptops of the future remains to be seen. But it’s doubtful that standard laptops will ever become obsolete. As it is, there are certain jobs that need wide screens and more processing power that exceeds the power available in the current generation of ultraportable laptops. Tasks currently not suitable for a mini include intensive 3D rendering and graphics design work.
