Make yourself untouchable in your workplace

In order to become untouchable and take control of matters in these difficult times, you must discover how to be accepted by making the smartest decisions and devise a concrete plan of action that will help you achieve your goals. Before I continue, let me say this quickly; there is no better antidote than hard work, if you really want to become untouchable in your workplace. But if you want to follow these steps I’m about to reveal, it will go a long way in your quest to be fireproof throughout your career as a salaried worker.

The first step is to cultivate a good working relationship with both your employer and your co-workers. One thing I have observed over the years is that employees like them as long as they do their jobs diligently; they often retain them, even if they are less competent at their jobs. This is very important, especially if you are new to the organization and just trying to establish your potential. You should also become familiar with what your employer likes versus what they don’t like. If it is the type that requires feedback at the end of each task performed or the type that looks for good and fast results.

Almost every employer I’ve come across likes to keep their best people. No good employer likes to substitute mediocrity for intelligence. After keeping this in mind, you can master the art of focusing on your employer’s priority and refusing to be distracted by secondary comments. Giving your best as much as possible by working hard and staying on top of your work will always give you an edge. This can be accomplished by upgrading your skills and learning new things by attending seminars, workshops, good record-keeping conferences, and gaining mentorship in your field. In the course of doing all this, unbeknownst to you, your boss will receive a due diligence report from him. Going back to mentoring in your field, it is always good to have a mentor in your career to guide and protect you. Mentors have proven to be a good shoulder to lean on when you reach a crossroads in your career. If you can get a proven and successful mentor to guide and advise you, then all the better for you.

Be prudent, profitable and financially intelligent in your financial transactions. Employers don’t like reckless spending, especially when employees are entrusted with money to carry out official assignments. They are happy to deal with any staff they can trust when it comes to providing good accountability. This is where good record keeping and financial discipline come into play, and your integrity must be unquestioned, clean, and you must certainly be trusted in this sensitive area. Listen to this, knowing and doing what is expected of you in your workplace cannot make your employer overlook this aspect.

After safely guiding and taking these steps, you can rest assured that you have a better chance of keeping your job than the other employees who don’t.
