The Macallan Diamond jubilee is a special release with unique collectible value. The whisky is made to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s diamond jubilee and is available only in limited editions. The packaging is designed by David Holmes, who also created the Macallan Royal Wedding bottling.

This single barrel Macallan is produced from ex-sherry casks that were filled during Queen Elizabeth II’s reign. The whisky is very rare and comes with a spare presentation box. The Macallan has released extra bottles because some of the original packaging was damaged.

The label on the bottle is also symbolic. The queen became Queen on the 6th of February 1952, when her father, King George VI, died at the age of 56. Elizabeth was 25 years old when she ascended the throne. In June 1953, she was crowned as Queen, and her reign began. The whisky was bottled in a square-shaped bottle, with a silver screw cap. Gordon & Macphail holds the official bottling license.

The Macallan Diamond Jubilee edition comes in a bespoke purple presentation box and comes with a ceramic brooch. The Queen’s face is framed by a silver wreath, flanked by four ribbons, two of which feature the Union Jack. It costs between PS6,200 and PS9,100 per bottle.

The Macallan Distillery is located in Craigellachie, Moray, Scotland. The distillery is owned by the Edrington Group. It was purchased from Highland Distillers in 1999. The liquid was aged at 52% ABV and released in limited quantities.

The colour of the whisky is a dark golden amber and its aroma is packed with sweet and spicy notes. Aromas of butterscotch, dark brown sugar, dried fruits, and malted cereals can be discerned. The spicier notes of chocolate and coffee are also prominent.
