Live the Dream – Christ Church, Barbados

Barbados tourism accounts for more than half of the growth of the economy. Annually, Barbados holidays entertain over half a million island visitors and another half million cruise ship passengers, a total of over 1 million visitors per year. The good thing is that more than 25% of the tourists who have spent their getaway on the island continue to return year after year. More than 11,000 are employed in the tourism industry. Politically and geographically speaking, Barbados is divided into 11 different parishes, namely Christ Church, Saint Andrew, Saint George, Saint James, Saint John, Saint Joseph, Saint Lucy, Saint Michael, Saint Peter, Saint Philip, and Saint Thomas.

Of the 11 parishes mentioned above, Christ Church is home to The Crane Beach, which was cited by “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” as one of the top ten beaches in the world. Crane has also become a favorite hangout for most Hollywood celebrities and top sports personalities. It was built in 1887, and since then the picturesque resort has developed into the best in the entire Caribbean and the planet. Food, white and pink sand, a romantic sense of seclusion, sunny weather, world-class hotel accommodations, vibrant nightlife, blue waters and friendly people – these are the things Crane can offer every guest on their Barbados vacation.

The Grantley Adams International Airport identification is also located in Christchurch; possibly one of the most important ports on the island. Grantley caters for over 2 million passengers a year and has modern facilities to welcome vacationers every time. Here, people can avail of direct flights to and from the UK, US and Canada.

Nightlife is perhaps one of the main attractions of this parish, for a brilliant reason: St. Lawrence Gap is here. St. Lawrence Gap is a long strip of bars, restaurants, and music venues that come alive when the sun goes down. Tourists enjoy the best rum in the world, cocktails, good food, jazz and reggae music, plays and more. A stay on the island would not be complete without dropping by this place and savoring the benefits of one of the liveliest nights in the Caribbean.

Still in Christ Church, families and children would surely enjoy a visit to Ocean Park during their Barbados vacation. Here you can see hundreds of sea creatures. The colorful marine life and vibrant movements of these creatures will leave your kids wanting more. After that, the family can head straight to Chancery Lane Swamp. Chancery Lane Swamp is another gift from Mother Nature to the island. Not far away is the Graeme Hall Nature Sanctuary, which is a famous mangrove tourist attraction inside Christ Church. Meet and greet exotic animals like scarlet libis, flamingos, parrots, and hundreds of other captive birds.

Before heading back to the hotel or resort, stop by one of the oldest schools in the parish: The Christ Church Foundation School, which was built in 1809.
