Find your ultimate personal business

Sell-yourself-and-reach-your-financial-goals

We have a problem! Most of us don’t make enough money to pay our bills. Mortgages, rent, food, gas prices, everything we need to live is getting more expensive every day. There are downsizing, relocation and bankruptcies that put many of us out of work. What can we do to survive?

Is today the best day of our life to start a business? The answer is absolutely yes! Full time, part time or moonlighting, it doesn’t matter as long as you take the necessary steps to become a business warrior and achieve the financial stability you need in your life.

I’ve been helping new entrepreneurs launch their businesses for over 40 years, and the one question that seems to come up a lot is: I have nothing to sell! – My answer has always been the same, Sell yourself. Everyone has a business niche they can be proud of. You just have to sit down and think about what you know, what your hobbies are, how your personality can help you help others. Ask yourself, – What can I do to benefit others?

Are you a hard worker? Can you fix things? Are you good with children? Are you good with the elderly? Are you a good driver and do you have a car?

Job #1: Handyman or woman

It is extremely rare in our current environment to find a family where someone is home every day to do chores, fix the little things that go wrong, organize the closets or the garage. It would be great to find someone who at a reasonable cost can help you do all those little things around the house that you just don’t have time for. Can you pull some weeds, clean and rearrange the backyard and patio, clean and rearrange the garage so the second car can finally get in, put new screws in the kitchen and bathroom cabinets so they finally close properly? Can this be a business? The answer is yes. You’ve found a great little business, and based on the sample of people I spoke to in my neighborhood, you’ll be as busy as you want.

Job #2: Temporary Service Provider

Things happen every day where working family members get stuck on a project, get stuck in traffic, have an unexpected meeting to attend, and need to call a friend or neighbor to pick up the child, take the grandmother to the doctors for a check-up or to go to the market to buy something she needs, have dinner at the Chinese restaurant down the street before the family gets home, take the boy (or girl) to baseball practice or school of dance. How many times can someone ask a family member, friend or neighbor for help? Would it be great if I could call someone I trust, who lives in the area, to do these temporary tasks for a reasonable price so I don’t have to bother my family or friends all the time? Can this be a business? The answer is yes. I know someone who washes cars at night and early in the morning for people who are too busy to get to a car wash and need to clean the car when they finally get home or before they leave in the morning. He makes a good living, and his entire inventory is a battery-powered handheld vacuum, a bucket, a couple of soft sponges, several soft drying cloths, and some cleaning agents.

Job #3: Housekeeper

This is a great part-time job for a single person, someone who lives with relatives or rents a room or small apartment and can be gone for several days and not have to worry about maintaining their own living room.

People need to go on business trips, trade shows or events, or take vacations. Some people own weekend houses. In almost all cases, they do not want to leave their houses empty for several days even if they have security. Who will water the plants? Who will be there when an important delivery is made? Who will feed the fish or other household pets? The answer is you!
You get paid and you get to live in a variety of nice houses and you get paid to do it. This is a job, so don’t invite your friends or have a party. You won’t last long as a housekeeper if you don’t follow the rules.

Job #4: Mentor

Many students, from first grade through college, struggle with one or more subjects and, for one reason or another, either the teacher just doesn’t make it or the student just doesn’t make it. Are you really good at math, history, English, Spanish, or any other subject a student needs help with? Do you work well with children? You are patient? If the answers are yes, you’ll have parents knocking on your door to help children of all ages learn what you know.

This is just a sample of the businesses that can be started for very little money and still allow you to make a living. If you take the time to think about it, many more will come to mind, and one of them will be the right one for you. Many positive articles and books have been written on how to start an online business. Believe me, there are thousands of success stories, but there are also many more failures. The opportunities are staggering, but there are plenty of earthbound minds to travel down that path. How to create and build a successful Internet business will be the subject of several articles that I will write in the future. This article is for people where hands-on business may be the best way to go. Families need help in their everyday lives, and the opportunities to start and succeed in a business that offers them benefits that will make their lives better and easier are right at their fingertips.

In any business where trust is an issue, prepare an informational portfolio that includes your DMV registration, letters of recommendation from your priest or minister, any documentation you have of attending CPR or Heimlich classes, and testimonials from satisfied customers. The more documentation you can provide to potential clients, the better your chances of building a very good business.
