Are all hybrid cars the same?

Here is a compilation of the most popular hybrid cars available in the market. Who’s who in hybrids, here are some of the key features of notables when it comes to hybrid technology.

Toyota is recognized by many as leading the innovations and trendsetter of hybrid technology in automobiles. So let’s take a look at Toyota’s hybrid cars first.

Toyota versions

The 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid has all the safety and fuel efficiency this model is known for. With 34 miles per gallon on highways, the Camry Hybrid offers the fuel efficiency and low emissions levels expected of hybrids.

The Prius, on the other hand, is considered by many hybrid lovers to be the lowest-priced compact hybrid out there. Introduced in the United States about ten years ago, the Prius Hybrid has been resilient in staying on the popularity charts when it comes to hybrids. With the highest fuel efficiency ratings and the most reasonable prices, the Prius Hybrid takes the credit.

In addition to these sedans, Toyota includes in its lineup the 2008 Highlander Hybrid and Hybrid Limited, a large hybrid SUV; then there are the hybrid minivans, the Estima, Sienna and Previa hybrids.

Honda Tickets

The 2007 Civic Hybrid model has a VTEC engine, backed by an electric motor that delivers power without the associated fuel consumption. It has the standard Honda exterior styling and instrumentation.

The Accord Hybrid is the Civic’s more luxurious stablemate. Its VTEC and CVT features provide power and torque, and it has achieved notable EPA ratings for fuel efficiency and emissions.

The original Honda hybrid, the Honda Insight, is another highly efficient gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle from Honda. Maintains the look and innovations of Honda.

Honda’s lineup includes an SUV, in this case the Honda Pilot. It has been found to have really low emissions and efficient injection. It incorporates the VCM system (which stands for Variable Cylinder Management), a system that increases mileage inversely proportional to fuel consumption.

A hybrid SUV and a hybrid sedan from Saturn

Saturn has two editions to its hybrid stable: the VUE Green Line Hybrid SUV and the Aura Green Line Hybrid sedan. The SUV is guaranteed to offer better mileage, reportedly 20% more, compared to its conventional VUE counterparts. The Aura Hybrid, on the other hand, has one of the lowest prices for hybrid sedans on the market and acceptable EPA ratings of 28 miles per gallon for city driving and 35 miles per gallon on the highway.

Volkswagen too?

Yes, Volkswagen hybrids are also available. And why not? Volkswagen is also a company that is committed to and responsible for the environment. This German automaker is working on the Jetta Hybrid with its small engine that delivers big power with the help of a dual charger that will ensure high fuel efficiency and low emissions.

Volkswagen’s Touran HyMotion is experimenting along the lines of hydrogen fuel cells. These fuel cells ensure economy and efficiency as no fossil fuels are used to power the HyMotion. Zero emission is achieved, as water is the only waste by-product in the process of harnessing hydrogen and oxygen to generate power. Volkswagen is also reportedly working on a hybrid version of the popular Golf series, again with lower fuel consumption levels.

And last but not least, a hybrid convertible?

Yes, there is one: the Saab Hybrid convertible, which incorporates the Saab Bio-Power concept to save fuel and make better use of renewable energy.

With all these hybrid cars on the market, the choice is yours.
