Venezuela and Hugo Chávez – A book recommendation

The leader of Venezuela was elected by the people in a democracy, but he rules like a dictator. He controls business, the military, education, the media, food, work, travel, the police, prisons, human rights, and the three branches of government. And now he has passed a new rule that he can and will continue to run for office indefinitely.

Hugo Chavez has told the World that the USA cannot live without its oil, but this is simply not the case, not only do we not need it, we must stop buying it. Let me recommend you a very good book:

“The threat closer to home; Hugo Chavez and the war against the United States”, by Douglas Schoen and Michael Rowan; Free Press (2009).

Venezuela’s oil production has decreased by 1/3 since Hugo Chavez nationalized the industry. With production very low, he is having an almost impossible time trying to pay for all the social programs he created and all the promises he made; both politically and socially. Worse still, the price of oil is well below its maximum and Venezuela has very little storage capacity for 5 to 10 days, depending on the type of oil.

Hugo Chavez has also been rigging elections in Argentina, Nicaragua, Ecuador, and El Salvador, while courting nations that oppose the US, such as North Korea, Iran, Russia, and Cuba. He has also worked to drive the US away from Bolivia and Ecuador, as well as most of Central America, calling America the Devil.

Mr. Chavez certainly rules through harassment, intimidation and force against the Venezuelan people and their neighbors. Now, with food shortages and other problems, he blames this on the US, but most people there know otherwise. The US buys most of its oil, maybe we should stop, push those ships back, after all, there must be some 80 billion barrels of oil off the coast of the world’s major ports right now , since there is no storage left. Think about all this, it’s time to make a move.
