It’s monsoons and a long weekend: 5 tips for you to sing in the rain

“Some people feel the rain. Others just get wet.” – Bob Marley

There is a reason the rain brings out the poet in most of us. Whether you choose to stay home or get soaked, there is something about rainy days that makes you want to fly.

But somewhere throughout these dreamy monsoons is reality looming over everything as the proverbial villain. Why oh why are there monsoon problems?

Think smelly clothes, dirty shoes, bad traffic, an army of mosquitoes, and dumb drivers (who splash water when speeding by). Gross!

Encourage. It’s a war out there and you can’t let it stop you.

So whether you are planning a trip to Neemrana, Jaisalmer, Fagu or Kasauli or just a long drive, we will help you have the time of your life this monsoon.

Considering that you already know and have nice raincoats, we love fluorescent, transparent and prints, let’s think beyond all that, shall we?

Here is a top 5 for rainy days:

1. Smart phone and charger: waterproof phone case and battery charger. Invest in these things. Amazon has cool stuff.

2. Repellents – Every hiker and their neighbor’s best friend swear by it.

3. DIY Rainproof Shoes – There is such a thing. Just rub wax on your shoes (you can grab a candle), spend a minute with a hair dryer, and voila! Your waterproof shoes are ready.

4. Skincare – Go basic with skincare this monsoon. Try a tablespoon of honey as an almond scrub or cleanser and stay clean and dry.

You could try this fun mask. Just mix together 1 egg white, ½ cup of beer (resist the urge to sip), and 2 teaspoons of lemon juice. Apply and rinse after 10 minutes. Get glowing.

Nothing fancy.

5. Cocktails – Enjoy these fun cocktails to brighten up your night.

Whiskey Skin (helps big time if you catch a cold)

Just rinse a mug with boiling water to warm it up. Add a teaspoon of sugar and lemon zest to a little warm enough water to dissolve it. Add scotch and a little more warm water. That is all. Ready so soon.

Space Gin Smash

In a cocktail shaker, add a few mint leaves, a quarter of a lemon, 2 green grapes minus the seeds, an apple cube, and a little syrup (basically equal parts water and sugar over medium heat). Give a light mixture. Now add gin and ice and shake it up. Ready!

So can we wonder where we are going this weekend?
