York is home to the University of York, York St John and Full York Medical School as well as York College and Askham Bryan College so it’s no surprise that student housing in the area is popular. There’s a great choice of houses and flats to suit all tastes, including the ultra-stylish Abode student accommodation. Abode is centrally located from some of the best hangout spots in the city and comes with a range of high-end features including private rooms with ensuite bathrooms.

Another great option is the Boulevard York student accommodation. This bright and colourful accommodation is a short walk from the UoY campus, and is ideal for those who like to live in close proximity to their universities. It has private studio rooms, comfortable communal spaces and a games room for when you want to relax with friends.

If you’re looking for more of a homely feel, you could try the Limes Court student village. This has a real sense of community and offers 29 individual houses with their own communal areas. It’s less than 1 mile from campus and has been voted the site with the most ‘homely feel’ by students.

When it comes to student housing in York, demand far exceeds supply. According to a report by Stripe Property Group, the YO10 postcode has one of the worst shortages of purpose-built student accommodation in the country, with three-quarters of the flats listed on the market already snapped up. The university says it’s working with the council and York St John to develop policies that address housing shortages.
