Go Kart Driving – What is the risk?

Go Kart Safety: How am I going to drive it?

Let’s face the music. Karts are dangerous. They are moving vehicles that can hit things like trees, cars, people, and garage doors. They can also tip over and skid along with the occupant below. (I was there, I did that!)

Go kart engines are hot. The wheels and axles turn. Chains can catch fingers and clothing. There are all kinds of dangers in a go kart.

There are also hazards to chainsaws and brushcutters. You can cut off a leg or lose a toe, if you’re not careful. The key here is “careful”.

What measures are you going to invest in that will make your cyclists “Careful”?

Obviously a training program is recommended. All children should be taught how to ride a bike safely, smartly and cautiously. This machine is a weapon if used backwards.

People outside the go kart are in as much, if not more, danger than the driver.

Therefore, proper driving techniques are key. Invest in a good driver training book if you need to!

Safety also includes safety equipment such as pads, suits, helmets, shoes, and gloves. Depending on the environment, but I would suggest always wearing protective clothing at all times when driving a kart. An accident is about to happen, especially when you least expect it. All it takes is one blown tire or one false turn and she’s through.

Seat belts are all the rage, but in karts they may or may not apply.

Specifically, the racing karts do not have seat belts because the object of the belt is defeated in the racing kart. It is better for the occupant to be released from the go kart than to stay with it. Obviously, however, adequate safety protection for the entire body is required. This can be a great investment.

However, seat belts are required, especially on full-frame go-karts, because if the go-kart were to roll and the occupant did not have a seat belt, they would become entangled in the frame and seriously injure themselves. The roll cage is just a cage, and by not being fastened, the cage becomes the enemy.

Also make sure that guards and shields are considered part of the security protocol. Legislation has been passed regarding go-karts to ensure that hair does not get caught in the moving axles of go-karts. Shafts must be protected to prevent tangling.

The bottom line is that safety involves an attitude about driving. Safety also involves proper crash protection and crash protection equipment.

It will never eliminate an accident, but it can certainly minimize the chances and risks of an accident.

Note: I want it to be understood that I really think the security team is a great idea. I have heard horror stories that could have been prevented with a good security team. Make sure your security team is first on your list and not last.
