Cat Breed – American Keuda

The American Keuda cat has only been in development since about 2002 and is therefore not actually a fully registered and widely known breed. Keuda is an abbreviation for Evaluation of kittens under direct evaluation, this term originated in a program in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico, which attempted to breed a superior quality farm cat from semi-feral specimens; the goal of the program was to produce a cat with the toughest qualities and strong genes.

The American Keuda are often compared to another race, the Egyptian Mau, whom they resemble; They have similar physics, personalities, and the same species-exclusive, curious-looking belly flap.

Physically powerful and skilled runners, the Keuda is smart and alert and loves warmer weather and will even go swimming on occasion. With a physique the size of an average bone, these cats are capable of running like a cheetah, due to the unique body fins that allow them to lengthen their legs.

Keuda come in a wide range of appearances, some look like Havana Browns, some look more like a Siamese cat, there are those that look like a mix of different breeds, while many look more like a full list of other recognized feline species.

Most of these types of cats have shorter coats, but there are some in the breed with longer coats; They have small snouts, large protruding eyes, and glossy, satin fur that comes in various colors including black, white, red, blue, chocolate, cream, gold, shaded (some with tabby markings), bi-colored, and tortoise shells.

They are known to be a ‘working cat’ and are suitable for life in rural areas and are truly a classic farm pet; they are ideal family companions, they are flexible, cheerful and soft-spoken.
